I trained the soundboard operators and sometimes operated the soundboard myself for this new church. Also edited sermons before compressing them into RealAudio files for the church’s website.

What I did: Volunteer digital video production

Videotaped activities at a camp for junior high students (summer 1999) run by this Christian youth organization, using my own digital video camera. Using Adobe Premiere and my computer (transported to the camp for this purpose), I edited each day’s footage into a three-minute video shown to the campers at night. Later I re-edited my footage and compiled it into a long-form videotape given to each camper.

Over the Memorial Day weekend 2000, I videotaped a similar Young Life camp (for adult leaders this time), again editing my video footage on-site.


Ministry: Tualatin Valley Baptist Church (affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention; now defunct)

Date: September 1996–June 1998

What I did: Ministry leader

This church met in a school. I was the ministry leader who oversaw setup and takedown of chairs, video projector and screen, musical instruments, etc. I also trained the soundboard operators, as well as operated the soundboard myself from time to time.
